Summer Camp (3 Day)

This training will provide players with the knowledge and ability to properly and safely build arm strength thus minimizing injuries. This training is ESSENTIAL for any youth players looking to increase velocity for all pitchers.

TRAINING OVERVIEW

This camp is intended to assist and build specific skills levels for each player. The camp will be fun, fast paced, AND highly informative. Drills provided will focus on skill development through innovative drills that will emphasize on four core areas of the game. Players learn more when they are having fun, feeling good and are positive about the experience. Pizza Lunch will be provided the third day. 

Over the 3 days we will focus on specific skill sets:

  • Day 1 will focus on defensive skills. This includes infield, outfield, and  general throwing mechanics and accuracy. Instructors will go over proper arm care pre game, how to properly play catch, receive the ball and grips. 
  • Day 2 will focus on offensive skills. Hitting and baserunning. Proper footwork.Hitting fundamentals include stance, proper bat size, balance, load and lower half vs upper half movement. 
  • Final day will incorporate both skill sets in fun and fast paced mini games.

Camp Overview:

Gehrig Richins will lead the camp with several 503 Baseball Instructors and several former Minor League Baseball and Collegiate Baseball players currently playing in the Mavericks Independent League.

Defense Rotations:

  • Proper pregame throwing progression
  • Position specific drills for all positions on the field (This does NOT include catching or pitching). 
  • General infield catch exchange and throwing fundamentals.
  • Glove work, position priorities, and communication. 
  • Outfield / fly ball route drills, position specific communication rules.

Offensive Rotations:

  • Tee drills
  • Short toss drills
  • Swing path drills
  • Live BP
  • Base Running  

What to bring?

  • Players need to be ready to slide so baseball pants or sweats are necessary. Shorts are acceptable too.
  • Cleats are REQUIRED
  • We also recommend wearing a cup for safety reason, but not required
  • Plenty of water
  • A glove and batting helmet
